Located in Prescott, AZ. With a picturesque view of the surrounding natural environment. The homeowner designed his own home that incorporates natural daylight into each space and views to the surrounding forest and mountain range. Open concept plan that maximizes the communal space and creating an experience the homeowner would love to be in.

The homeowner designed his home with the intention of natural light and views overlooking the surrounding property. The design was well thought out with functionality of the home and the aesthetics of the home.

Scope

  • Homeowner designed his own house and built a 3D model of it.

  • Collaboration with client on creating 2D elevations and sections for City of Prescott, AZ permitting.

Design Approach and Execution

Concept and Vision

  • Design Philosophy: Homeowner designed home for him and his wife's specifications utilizing a 2D/ 3D architectural program. His vision was to create functional spaces, utilizing the butterfly roof design to create clearstory windows that would all allow sunlight to infiltrate the space. As well as having windows strategically placed to allow for views to the surrounding property. With a wood deck behind the house looking out to the beautiful scenery on their property.

Execution

  1. Phase 1: Site Assessment

    • Studied existing soil quality, drainage systems, and sunlight patterns to optimize plant selection.

  2. Phase 2: Layout and Planning

    • Designed home in a way that allowed for functional use.

    • Strategically placed roof clearstory windows and the windows on each side of the house, to allow for natural sunlight to infiltrate the space.

    • Wood deck and stairs.

  3. Phase 3: Collaboration and Construction

    • Worked with homeowner to complete project for city of Prescott Permitting.

  • Aesthetically Pleasing Spaces: Designing spaces that maximize the natural sun light in the design. Creating space that are relaxing, enjoyable to be in, Aesthetically pleasing, and Functional.
